Types of Private Reports with Josephine
Types of Reports
Every family presents with different circumstances and different needs. For this reason, I offer a range of private family reports to provide the level of consideration appropriate to the particular issues requiring attention.
Child Impact Report
A Child Impact Report is generally prepared where an early overview of the family circumstances is required. It is designed to identify the key issues affecting the child and family, provide an understanding of the child's experiences and current parenting arrangements, and assist families and professionals in considering appropriate next steps.
These reports are often requested early in family law proceedings or when families are seeking guidance before the family becomes further caught in ongoing conflict. They provide practical recommendations that can assist future planning and child focused decision making without the need for a more detailed report.
Child Impact Reports are commonly requested where families require an early understanding of the issues affecting the child and family, or where legal representatives are seeking an independent overview to assist with future planning.
Private Single Expert Report
A Private Single Expert Report provides a more detailed exploration of the issues affecting the child and family where the circumstances are more complex or require greater consideration.
These reports allow for a broader discussion of the family dynamics, parenting capacity, communication, the child's presentation and any other matters relevant to the family's circumstances. The report considers the significance of these issues and provides practical recommendations to assist families, legal representatives and, where appropriate, the Court.
Whilst more detailed than a Child Impact Report, every report is tailored to the purpose for which it has been requested and the individual circumstances of the family.
These reports are often appropriate where the family circumstances are more complex, additional consideration of the issues is required, or a more detailed overview would assist families, legal representatives or the Court in understanding the family circumstances and future direction.
Family Therapy and Future Directions Reports
These reports provide an overview of the therapeutic work undertaken, the family's engagement in the process, current progress, barriers to intervention, and the key issues requiring consideration. Where appropriate, they may also include observations arising from the therapeutic process, together with practical recommendations to assist future therapeutic intervention, parenting arrangements and decision making.
Depending upon the circumstances of the matter, consideration may also be given to relevant information provided by other professionals involved with the family, where appropriate and with the necessary authority or consent.
They are designed to assist families, legal representatives and other professionals in understanding where the family is within the therapeutic process, what has been achieved to date, and what may assist moving forward.
These reports may also assist in documenting therapeutic progress, identifying barriers to intervention, and providing guidance regarding future therapeutic work and parenting arrangements. They are often requested where families, legal representatives or other professionals require an overview of the therapeutic process and recommendations regarding any next stages of the family law process.
Family Therapy and Future Directions Reports are generally prepared during or following family therapy where an overview of the therapeutic process and future direction is required. They may be requested by families, legal representatives, an Independent Children's Lawyer or, where appropriate, the court (FCFCOA).
Not every family therapy matter requires a report. They are generally prepared where there is a specific purpose in documenting therapeutic progress, providing guidance regarding future intervention, or assisting families, legal representatives and, where appropriate, the Court in understanding the family's circumstances and therapeutic direction.
Every family is different and not every report is suitable for every situation. If you are unsure which report best meets your needs this can be discussed with your legal representative.

“Children will refelct and remember their childhood years always. As a family we need to keep this in mind so that our children have memories that are positive and happy as their foundation, it is in everyone’s best interests.”
